Madame, there are British solders in hiding in the city- will you help? From that September morning until the liberation of Brussels four years later, Madame Brusselmans worked with the escape organisation in Brussels-the receiving end of the famous Comete Line, which stretched from Belgium, across France and over the Pyrenees to Lisbon and freedom. The diary tells the story of a very remarkable and determined woman.

At the same time as looking after her two young children and keeping house, difficult tasks themselves during the Occupation, Anne Brusselmans was responsible for the safe return of 180 airmen shot down over Europe, besides transmitting much vital information on German troop movements and locations. The diary has been transcribed by Flight Lieutenant Denis Hornsey, D.F.C., author of The Pilot Walked Home, who was himself shot down over Europe and escaped to England with the help of the Comete.
